Why YAY! PLANES?
Few places in the city are as relaxing to me as the local airport. It may sound strange, but the airport provides an oasis of calm in the middle of the city. My local airport in Santa Monica CA inspired this DVD. They have a small viewing area with bleachers and picnic tables for people to watch planes take off and land, while listening to the radio chatter over the loudspeakers.
Whenever I am at the airport I see families with little kids there to see planes and learn about flight. Airplanes of all sizes, shapes and colors mesmerize the child audience – and adults, too. Thinking of my young cousins who were obsessed with everything trains, and similarly would be excited about planes, I checked out the airport supply store to purchase a DVD on planes for kids. Guess what. There were none. And there lies the inspiration for YAY! PLANES – a DVD for kids who LOVE planes!
The test market for this show was the kids of our own crew. The editor, composer and one of our puppeteers are all proud parents of preschool kids. The results are in—both boys and girls love YAY! PLANES.
Bob Beresh – Creator / Producer – EAA 857015
YAY! PLANES marks Bob’s foray into children’s programming. As an aviation enthusiast, Bob became interested in airplanes at a young age, building plastic model planes as well as radio control.
As a filmmaker, and owner of Beresh Global Media, other projects include corporate documentaries ; and a series of promotional videos for a groundbreaking golf course in Northern California. In addition, Bob produced and edited the documentary feature “American Roadshow.”
Working in Post Production at a major movie studio, Bob has been involved in numerous film and television projects, and has experienced all aspects of the motion picture process. Academically, Bob studied film at Michigan State University and was president of the MSU Filmmakers student organization.
